Visiting from Manila tonight was Lilian Cruz, accompanied by her daughter Maricel Malinao.
After being a woman of leisure (taking children to and from school, playing tennis, shopping, etc,) Lilian was recruited by an all-male (mother) club in 1998 – 21 years ago.  With Lilian’s leadership, they helped Charter an all-female club, RC Hiyas ng Maynila.
 
In the early 2000’s she has held many Club positions, e.g. New Generation, International Service, The Rotary Foundation, Chairperson of Various Committees & Club Secretary for several Club Presidents.
 
Lilian’s big year was 2004-05, Rotary’s Centennial Celebration year, when she was President.  At the end of her Term, she was awarded Most Outstanding President within her District.
 
This followed two Terms as Assistant Governor mentoring 3 clubs and in 2007 became elected as Special Executive Assistant to the DG.
 
In the past 10 years Lilian has served Rotary as:
  • the District Governor’s Executive,
  • Vice-Chairman for Membership Extension & Retention,
  • Editor-in-Chief of the DG’s monthly newsletter,
  • Managing Editor for the Rotary Club of Manila’s Past Presidents' book launching on the 1st June, and
  • Chairperson for Discon Humanity IN Motion 2019 Exhibit.
