I’m pleased to say that a good group of Easter Hutt Rotary members participated in the day’s activities.  Five members or associates (of all ages) stood collecting from the public at Naenae Station during this day, in shifts from 6am onwards.

We rode trains on the Johnsonville line, the Wellington to Upper Hutt line, and six of us rode up to Masterton that evening to the event function at Farriers.  Some of us rode up to 62 stops, contributing 50 cents per stop to the cause.
It was an enjoyable day, especially seeing some stations we hadn’t visited before, not to overlook the opportunity for friendly chats with fellow Rotarians in our District.
Although the amount collected was not huge, it was a good publicity opportunity, handing out cards on Rotary’s Polio eradication programme, with many members of the public commenting on the good work Rotary was doing.  And for those who didn't participate, we gave them an opportunity to contribute to the fundraising cause at the next meeting.
