On Monday 25 May we were honored to have Dr Cynric Temple-Camp speak to us about his work as a pathologist. He is the CEO of Medlab Central in Palmerston North which he established for laboratories covering the lower North Island. Throughout his career in Palmerston North, Cynric has been responsible for performing a host of autopsies investigating natural death, medical misadventure, accidents, and murder.
He has been fortunate enough to work with outstanding police, legal teams, and Coroners to reach successful conclusions in these cases. Cynric works day-to-day as a pathologist, carrying out diagnostic investigations regarding patients’ illnesses. His presentation included a very funny "How to commit the perfect murder" which we all enjoyed. Cynric has written 3 books - The Cause of Death, The Final Diagnosis and The Quick and the Dead which we were give the opportunity to purchase signed copies.
Cynric was born in South Africa in 1954 and raised and educated in Zimbabwe, then called Rhodesia. He provided military service while training and graduated from the University of Rhodesia Medical School and the Royal Colleges of Surgeons and Physicians of Edinburgh and Glasgow in 1977. He graduated with his pathology specialty in Cape Town in 1980, moved to New Zealand, and was appointed as a pathology consultant at the Palmerston North Hospital.
The members thoroughly enjoyed his presentation and have invited him to speak to us again later in the year about his involvement in high profile cases such as "The Lundy Case". A special thank you to Shelly, Cynric's wife and Glen, Cynric's father-in-law who made the evening possible.
