Following a talk by Colin Ryder one of the Friends of Baring Head Lighthouse, a group of Eastern Hutt Rotary enjoy a trip out there to visit this iconic setting.

On what was a perfect Wellington day, we met at the entrance on the Wainuiomata Coast Road and walked up the well marked track to the Lighthouse.  Colin gave as commentary of the area and how they were progressively restoring the area.

The views on the day were just stunning....
We returned down to the car park via the loop track, getting a different view of the area and the restoration work they were doing with the vegetation, whilst checking the traps for rodants.

Perhaps we may return soon to help paint one of the out-buildings?
