For the 28th year, Eastern Hutt Rotary have their Trailer Raffle at Queensgate Mall, Lower Hutt with prizes value at $5,000, thanks for the corporate sponsors, members and friends.

Actually, here is some history - it was in 1989 our member David Jones introduced the idea of a monster Christmas Raffle to replace OZBO Day.  Filled with toys and Christmas gifts (some donated, some purchased), the trailer was put on display in Queensgate alongside the Rotarians, partners and Inner Wheel members who were rostered to sell the raffle tickets.

The Christmas raffle has been run there every year since. The total raised over the past 28 years is in the region of $360,000, at an average of something around $12,500 per year.

The following local charities will be the recipients this year.

             Alzheimers Society [Hutt Valley]

          Naenae College Scholarship

          Asthma Foundation [Hutt Valley]

          Inner Wheel

          Te Omanga Hospice

          Wellington Free Ambulance

Billy Graham: [Naenae Youth Charitable Trust]

We are so grateful for this year's corporate sponsors, especially Mitre 10 and Stephens Motors for their generosity, plus of course Queensgate for their once again allowing to use their facilities.  Also the many volunteers who are helping to sell tickets.
