Last Meeting: John Mohi - 9940 District Governor
What a great evening we had with the visit of District Governor John Mohi and his wife, Lane! An evening full of surprises!  In his speech, John shared with us about Taupiripiri - the cane which recognises the qualities of leadership and authority vested in the DG.

John shared with us the District’s plans for the next few years:
  • Finalizing the Centennial Book about the history of NZ & Pacific Rotary - currently up to the 1970’s and due out in 2021, but still requiring any Rotary history yet to be submitted
  • Giving Every Child a Future - providing vaccinations for children in 9 Pacific countries
  • Tree, Trees, Trees - a programme to plant between 1 million - 10 million trees in NZ
  • Wellington Regional Children’s Hospital – providing whanau rooms, and a request for fund-raising assistance
  • District 9940 Rotary Conference, to be held on 15-17 May 2020 at Lower Hutt Events Centre, with the theme - Rotary Connects the World – Together We Connect, Ko Tatou Tatou e.
Following a surprise ‘debate’ twist to keep us guessing, Wim Julicher was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship, for his outstanding services, proudly supported by wife, Sue, and family members.

As a prelude to the meeting we were entertained by the beautiful singing of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Ara Whanui  Kapa Haka group, and later by their outstanding performance, paying tribute to iwi throughout Aotearoa.

Wim Julicher - Paul Harris Fellowship award
What better occasion to honour someone, than when the District Governor visits.  Accompanied by his family, Wim Julicher was presented the Paul Harris Fellowship tonight.  It was a huge surprise and there was the odd tear in the eye I believe!
