Last MeetingMichelle Stronach-Marsh & Stephen Fitzjohn from Petone Rotary
It was a unique experience for our club: being addressed by a  "Co-President". Michelle and her husband, Murray Chisholm, hold a joint Rotary membership and share the office of President of the Petone club.  She explained how the joint membership came about.  They both had Rotary in their DNA and both had long had an interest in voluntary work, especially with young people.  After they adopted three siblings, both felt the need for adult company.  But neither had much spare time with Michelle, a bathroom designer and involved with Girl Guides and Murray, a teacher, involved with coaching underwater hockey;  hence a joint membership to share the work load.  (Like the Roman Consuls of old they simply alternate their roles and like weathermen; If Michelle is here, Murray is not).

Stephen Fitzjohn has been Petone Past-President three times!  He spoke of the proposal for our two clubs to run, jointly, a golf tournament in November this year, at the Shandon Golf course.  The Ambrose format will be the same as our past tournaments and will be held on the evening of 12th November.  Hopefully with 30 teams, Paddy's experience, and the resources of both clubs involved, it should be very successful.

In an answer to John Cole's question, President Jan said that the issue of whether our club would also hold its traditional tournament in Feb/March 2021 would be decided by the Board.

In thanking the speakers, Dave Wilson expressed his pleasure that we have two clubs acting together rather than in competition.

Learning Sessions 9 & 10
1)  Sometimes the Bulletin goes into your Spam box for some strange reason.  So, if you haven't got it by the weekend, go to our Website and view it from THERE.

2)  When you have been appointed a Rostered Duty and want to check what this is, again go to our Website first, and open up the last Bulletin.  Scan down to "Rostered Duties & Responsibilities" and you will see that 'Rostered Duties' is in a blue colour.  This is a Link that will take you to a page that explains all the duties and responsibilities.

The Power of Positivity

Parting Thought:

"The race of mankind would perish did they cease to aid each other. We cannot exist without mutual help. All therefore that need aid have a right to ask for it from their fellow-men; and no one who has the power of granting can refuse it without guilt.~ Walter Scott

Rostered Duties & Responsibilities:

Please study and plan ahead, especially if you are on duty to write a Bulletin Contribution.  A reminder that it's also your responsibility to find a replacement if you are unable to fulfill your duty.
